3D Areola and nipple tattoo may pose strange to you but that’s because this is still a relatively new cosmetic tattoo service.
A 3D nipple tattoo creates the appearance of a hyper realistic areola and nipple. They're sometimes called areola tattoos, primarily because designing a natural-looking areola is a part of the service. But regardless of the phrase, the goal is the same: create natural nipples and areolas using 3D tattooing.
If this sounds like something you want, you may be ready to look for a paramedical tattoo artist, but it's essential to know a few things before moving forward. Specifically, you need to know whether you're a candidate for 3D nipple and areola tattoo what to expect during the treatment.
Who's a candidate for 3D nipple tattoos?
You're a great candidate for a nipple or areola tattoo or both if one of the following scenarios applies to you:
If these scenarios don't apply but you still want a 3D nipple tattoo, you can always provide a photo of your breast and chest area to our tattoo artists Grayce here at Top Notch Ink. Then, they can let you know whether you're a good candidate.
You’ll need to wait at least 3 months after your final breast reconstruction procedure to get your tattoo. This will give your skin time to heal.
What Is The Healing Process For Areola Tattoos?
As with all tattoos, the skin under and around the tattoo is likely to turn red, swell, and may feel tight or itchy – luckily, the usual aftercare for tattoos can be used on the area. Within a few days, the tattoo will begin to scab and flake, which is entirely normal if a little uncomfortable; do not to pick at the scabs as they can affect the long-term quality of the tattoo. You will be proved with aftercare to soothe the skin and reduce itching.
As your skin recovers from the areola tattooing process, the appearance of the tattoo will change slightly, often softening in colour and losing hard lines. The final effect is visible around a month after the procedure.
What To Know Before Your Nipple and Areola Tattoo Procedure Nipple and Breast Reconstruction
If you plan to have nipple reconstruction, you’ll need to have it done before your tattoo procedure. Having nipple reconstruction after your tattoo procedure will affect the quality of your tattoo.
If you had breast reconstruction surgery on just 1 of your breasts, we’ll only tattoo that breast. We can’t change the color or size of your other natural nipple or areola. We will try to make both areolas as similar as possible.
After your tattoo artist is done tattooing, they will place a dressing over the area. Your artist Grayce will teach you how to care for your tattoo. Follow your tattoo artist instructions and these guidelines:
( Non Adhesive) Please continue wearing the pads that were placed on you during you our appointment today. You will remove these pads first thing in the morning. If your pads do not fall off on their own, please wear them into the shower, allow them to fill with water. This allows them to fall off without pulling any of your color out. Rinse the tattoos with a gentle soap and warm water. Once out of the shower, pat dry and allow to air dry for no more than 3 to 5 mins. Use a q-tip to apple a dime size amount of Aquaphor to each areola. Apply a new, non stick pad on each area. You will need a loose fitting bra to hold pads in place.Wear these pads until the following morning. Repeat these exact steps for 2 more days (mornings) On the final day, after cleaning your Areola’s in shower, please sit topless for 1 hour. This allows the skin to completely dry out. After the hour, you may wear a loose fitting bra (no pads, no ointment) and get dressed. During the first week, I would try not to rub or pick at the tattoo. I would avoid sweating. Please do not submerge in any type of water for 10 days. i.e....hot tubs, swimming pools, bathtub, oceans etc. You will have a scab that form on your Areola’s during the first week of healing time. This is very normal. Once scab has fallen off on its own, you may begin applying a gently lotion to help relieve the dryness that will follow for the next two to three weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at anytime.
